Parentsconnect

I’ve been getting this newsletter from parentsconnect since I was pregnant. Once a week, I would let my co-workers in on the fascinating info found in said newsletter. Like when my baby was the size of a chihuahua or the length of a mini skirt. This newsletter is totally funny and not at all scary like some can be. I love this gem from the one I got today:

Mommy Milestones…

You updated Facebook with 50 (nearly identical) pictures of your gorgeous kid, and your best friend from seventh grade, who you just reconnected with, commented, “SO CUTE!!!!” (And, let’s face it, she’s totally right.)

Hah! If we’re facebook friends, you know it’s true. :-P

JJ over at Bellyitch decided to do a spotlight on lil’ ol’ me. Because, you know, I’m just that fabulous. ;-) Thanks, JJ!

Found this weekend:

  • The version of Auld Lang Syne I’ve been wanting to download (from the SATC movie). I love this haunting folk version. It makes me happy and sad at the same time. Like Saph always says, I love “guitar music”.
  • A scarflet pattern that’s quick, easy, adorable, and doesn’t require any knitting skills I don’t have. Hey, I need it in a hurry, we had snow (flurries) Friday. Adrienne and I are having a “pick your own pattern” knit-a-long.
  • A turkey to feed the dozen or so adults we may have over on Thanksgiving. At least I don’t have to cook it, MIL volunteered FIL to do it, hehe.
  • A salon that does natural hair!
  • A former classmate. A knitter at that! This is the second crafting clasmate I have found this year.
  • A flat panel computer monitor at the thrift store, uber cheap. Yay me!

Did you find anything interesting?

Délicieux

My friend Tia visited Montreal recently, and so I asked her to pick up Marie Claire Idées (a French craft magazine) for me if she could find it. She did, and boy is it beautiful! She also sent me some Canadian Maple Syrup which I showed off to my family and then hid away. It’s mine, all mine…bwahahahaha.

Um, anyway, I love seeing pics from this magazine and I thought others might too, so here are a couple:

mci2
I’m pretty sure I need a lamp made out of teacups, saucers, and teapots.

mci3
Then, I need someone to come to my house and create this vignette somewhere.

mci4
Adorable French embroideries.

mci5
If I had such cute napkin rings, plates, bowls, and the like, I am convinced every meal would be perfect.

Drive-by dreaming…

I just love old houses, so I was really happy when I found oldhouses.com today while browsing another site. You can view homes by state or style, and probably spend hours drooling at the pics. My favorite style, I think, is Georgian Colonial. I love the symmetry of that style b/c one of my quirks is having things be even and/or balanced. One of my favorite things to do on the weekend is stalk drive through the historical district of a nearby town and look at all the beautiful houses. And the people don’t even mind. Seriously. They wave at you while you creep past their driveway. Ah, Texas.

TMBG…Here Come the 123s

So I was looking for new podcasts and I came across the most wonderful one for kids. They Might Be Giants is releasing a new album in February, and so has a new weekly video podcast featuring songs from this album. It’s pretty cool. Each podcast has a slightly different visual/illustrated look and feature puppets, children and animals. So far, there have been five episodes and I definitely couldn’t choose a favorite. I want to say this albm is even better than Here Come the ABCs which we love. Can’t wait for this new one to drop, so in the meantime, we’ll be playing these videos over, and over, and over. So, search iTunes for Here Come the 123s, and subscribe! You won’t be sorry. :)

YMIB

Most people don’t know, but I like to pretend when I blog. I pretend that maybe just 5-10 people read my blog, and it’s just me and them, and that the whole internet can’t see what’s written here. Yes, I like denial just fine, thanks. Anyway, I got an email this morning letting me know that I was the first ever for the YMIB roll call. So, there goes that, but yay me, and thanks YMIB!

Um, interesting.

So I’ve decided to make a page that addresses the most frequent searches that bring people here. You want to know how to make a poodle skirt, a felt birthday crown, and dress up peg dolls. You also want to know about that psychedelic print loveseat I saw that one time at an estate sale. Well, I’ll talk about that, too.

I’ve got a new way to walk…walk, walk.

This is a pretty neat site. Found it over at shelterrific. What’s your walkscore? Mine is 49, so about average. Most of the places in my ‘hood can’t actually be walked to though since it’s not really set up for pedestrian traffic. The site explains all that.
