Since I’ve last written…

I had that meeting. It was interesting. I am thrilled about the prospect of this group, but also, a little I dunno, apprehensive?.

ZB has an asthma attack in the middle of the night Friday, so we spent Friday night and Saturday morning in the ER. The thing that pisses me off is that it could’ve totally been prevented I think. His doctor’s nurse never got back to me on Friday after several calls asking her to have the doc write him a prescription for a new mask for his nebulizer. He’s almost 100% now. The respiratory therapist that saw him recommended allergy testing which was recommended to us last year, but I’m still on the fence about that. I mean, the kid hates needles and if he turns out to be allergic to oh, I dunno, trees and grass, what am I going to do, ya know? My brother and I both have allergies, his more severe. I went with bro to get his testing done and I know exactly what they do and I really don’t think ZB could handle it without 5 or 6 people holding him down. I’m not sure that’s worth it.

Since he seemed better on Saturday night, we decided to go ahead with that day’s advent calendar activity which was attending our local Christmas parade. DH and I wore our Santa hats and the kids wore their reindeer ears ‘cuz we’re cool like that. You know you’re jealous. :-P The kids’ favorite part is when Santa throws candy off the firetruck and it hits me on the head. Yay. LOL. Bebe loves firetrucks. What toddler doesn’t? And so I think this was the highlight of his year besides getting to go inside one a few months back.
Parade dudes

I took DH out to VA for a follow up visit for his carpal tunnel and so Bebe and I dropped him off and headed over to the new Super Target and Michael’s. I checked out all Martha’s cute stuff at Michael’s and got jealous that we have no Starbucks at our Target. *Sigh* It’s ok, in about 6 months, there’ll be a Super Target about 5 minutes away. Yay!

Oh, and how could I forget? I got a package full of books from Anna in the mail! Two knitting books for me, and a few books and stickers for the kids. Plus, a cute card. :-D I love goodies.

Anna goodies

Random:

grape ape
A trip to Hobby Lobby with Bebe can take up to half an hour longer than I usually take b/c he has to squeeze and sometimes bite, every plastic grape he sees. I don’t mind him biting them. Germs are good, make boy strong. :-P Kidding.

Scooter reindeer

Dress up izzie
As if you never dressed up your dog in a onesie and pretended she was a baby! No? Um, pretend you never saw this. :-P

Argylie
I just thought this shot was cute. The vest and shirt were ZB’s, and before that, my cousin’s! And she ditched the puffs for little buns. A rare occurence.

Stockings
Our stockings.

Se moi
And yours truly! My skin looks awful in this photo. I think I need to go inspect it right now…

Scenes from the weekend…

Kitty Bento
I saw these Hello Kitty Bento Boxes from Dollar Tree on Nicole’s blog and just had to have them. Adorable, no? Some will be used for lunch, others will find new purposes. The green one to the left is now a first aid kit in my nightstand.

Girlie rides
Girlie on her new bike. Helmet disclaimer is here somewhere.

Bebe walks
Ah, toddlers. Bebe refused to drive his car and insisted on wearing his helmet while he walked.

Doll bed
Girlie helped me sew up this little pillow for her doll bed. That’s the mattress you see underneath it. This thing definitely needs some color. I’m slowly working on the quilt and am thinking of making up a couple of different mattresses a la the Princess and the Pea.

Sneak peek…

Boys gift

Booties

A friend (and reader) is pregnant with her third son and so I’m sending a little gift for her boys. These booties* were so easy to knit! They were knit flat and then seamed which I don’t mind since my projects are always small and I don’t like DPNs.  I made the pair while having an Alias marathon with DH over the weekend. For the group of brothers, I got this book which I think is just the perfect gift for a family expecting their third.

Exhausted, but happy…

  • The parties were fun. Funny details another day…
  • The wrapping paper is from Dollar Tree! I bought three rolls, the third is a cute butterfly pint and I also saw some paisley and maybe some others there too. Did I not say that Dollar Tree is the best ever?
  • DH bought the Sunday paper, a rare occurrence, and I’m glad b/c I found out about an organic farm not too far away! I’m going to go there this week for local organic eggs, tomatoes, squash, honey…and on, and on!
  • I’m almost on top of my laundry, hooray!
  • Kali_mama: I like the book so far. I always feel like no matter how much I declutter, there is more to be done.
  • A cool new find: The Thrift Shopper…nationwide thrift store listings and reviews. Cool, eh? I’ve already reviewed and rated the thrift stores I visit on a regular basis and I encourage you to do the same!

Tis the season to go party…

Isn’t my new wrapping paper cute? My wrapping skills are awful though. I wish I could have perfect corners and whatnot, but the truth is, I’m just more slapdash, hehe. Only one more birthday party weekend to go after this one! Yay! B/C my wallet hurts! Also? How come kids don’t dress up for bday parties anymore? When I was growing up, I always wore party dresses to the birthday celebrations of family members and friends. My DD still gets a special birthday dress from Grandma every year. I love that.

Free Comic Book Day!

We’re off to get ours.

Back with the loot…

I took the kids with me to the bookshop, then brought them home and went to the comic shop alone . OK, I have always been a nerd, but either I’m becoming a geek too or the comic book shop guys were making lots of pop culture references that everyone knows, like the enemies of the Fantastic Four and how Ghostbusters ends. Everyone knows that stuff? Right? Right? I passed a sign for an estate sale on my way to the shop and decided I would check it out on my way home. I came out of there with these…

They’re from the 50s or 60s and were 10 cents each! It was kind of creepy going through someone’s things but interesting too. I’m a voyeur, I love to see how others live. The house was in perfectly preserved 60s/70s style so there was this psychedelic print carpet, lots of dark furniture and the most awesome couch/loveseat/chair combo! I really wanted the chair, but the guy wanted to try and keep the set together since the print was so unique. I should’ve taken a pic. Anyway, I figure I’ll go back around 3:30 since the sale ends at 4 and if it’s still there, I’ll try to buy the chair.
