Brava

I tried a new recipe for dinner tonight.  After asking for seconds, ZB said, “This food is tasty. Let’s give Mommy a round of applause.” And then they all did. Have a fabulous weekend.

Funny that…

The more I have to say, the less I write, heh.

Off to make “football food”* and teach ZB how to talk smack. His team (Cowboys) is playing DH’s team (Giants) today. It’s on. :-P

*This week, Chili. But I made Buffalo Chicken Meatballs two weeks ago and everyone loved them.

Yom!

That’s how ZB spells “yum” and exactly how my first “real” frittata tasted tonight. I finally bought a cast iron skillet and combined a few different recipes to come up with something perfectly me. It had zucchini, potato and bits of cherry tomato. Yom. Too bad I didn’t get a picture.

We have been busy, busy, busy. I really feel like the kids’ chauffeur right now. Tuesday night we went to a friend’s house for some barbecue, sangria and pool time for the kids. We sat out in the yard till it got dark and talked about everything under the sun. An excellent way to spend a summer evening. Wednesday, the same friend and I took the girls (this is Girlie’s BFF) to get all our kiddos registered for swimming, finally. Today, I took the kids to the library thing, not too exciting and then this afternoon ZB got a call from his best friend asking us to go to the waterpark tomorrow. Next week, my mom will be here. I can’t wait. I don’t plan to lift a finger though she says “I’m not coming to do any housework!” Yea right! My mom is incapable of sitting still and will probably be re-washing my dishes 5 minutes after she walks in the door. :-P

A No-Frills Kitchen Still Cooks…

Cute Times article

I especially love the list of inessentials, lol. This article reminded me that I was going to buy a cast iron skillet with some of my birthday money and never did. I need one as my most used non stick frying pan died a while back and my copper bottom aluminum stainless steel skillet* is too big for most uses. (If copper bottom skillets are the devil, please, don’t tell me!)

*Gift from my mom, the foodie. I would never buy myself chichi kitchen equipment, lol. Except a kitchen-aid mixer if I could! Pink! Shiny! Yay!
