Don’t mess with Texas…libraries.
So this school thing is actually work! Imagine that! After being thrown off almost a week due to an error made by the school, I am now playing catch up trying to get two weeks worth of work done before next Tuesday. I will probably be up till O Dark 30 Monday night getting it done, but s’ok. I work best under pressure. Some people pace themselves and do a bit at a time but why would I want to do that? That would make sense!
The kids’ school year is winding down and seems to be drama free, so I’m happy about that. It has gotten stupid Texas hot the past few days and so I spend my time indoors between sun-up and well, bedtime. If I must go out, I scurry from air conditioned car to air conditioned building and back. Like I’ve said before, I am a delicate flower, not made for heat. I had heat stroke last year, and even fainted from the heat as a child.
My kids are currently banned from taking out library books due to the whopping fine I recently had to pay for a lost book. It was either that or go to court as not paying fines is considered a misdemeanor here. I’m not kidding. I bet the library ban goes out the window once school lets out…or maybe remembering those fines will keep the ban in check.
Anyway, I have reading to do, so I better get to it!

I’ve had to pay pretty pennies for books my kids accidentally (or on purpose…) destroyed or lost. Not to mention a certain husband who also is a doofus when it comes to taking care of books. It sucks. But considering how many books we check out from the library, I guess that’s a pretty good deal to only have to pay for a few.

misdemeanor are you serious!!! How much was the book that you lost anyway? I remember blockbuster wanted to charge me a huge fine once and I argued with them that i brought the movie back…only to find it under my seat a day later!
How long are the kids banned from the library?

A heat stroke, wowzers! If not paying fees is a crime, I’m guilty. We go to the library alright, but due to late fees I refuse to pay, we don’t check out books. One day I will break down and pay the fees, I’m sure. But I’ve paid enough fees to have my name on a brick somewhere as a gold nugget sponser or something!

Sure do understand what you mean by “Stupid Texas Hot.” I’m a Dallas gal–Mom’s car sat downtown in a lot all day while she was at work. When she got out at 6 p.m. on a Lovely Texas Summer Day, she often had to don gardening gloves in order to touch the steering wheel to drive home. When Hubby first moved to Texas from Wisconsin, he worked the nite shift. He had a 1972 Chevy Impala with a black top, black interior. A classic car with one major problema–no air! When he got off work at midnite, the temp was still 95 degrees and inside the car was 150. Too hot even for fire ants!

My whole life is about working under pressure. Without pressure I would never produce anything.
I can’t believe you could go to court over a book. I guess you can always hang out in Barnes and Noble.

Misdemeanor? Yikes!
Our library rule is that whoever is to blame for the late fine has to pay it. Often it’s a matter of me forgetting to get the books back on time, but when a book is found, say, hiding under a certain boy’s bed, he cashes in his allowance to pay the fine.
Good luck with your courses!

Hi Dee,
Thanks for the visit at my blog
It’s always nice to meet new bloggers.
Yeah; I don’t like too much heat neither, but it’s living overseas that changed that. I used to live in Hawaii, where it can be very warm… but they have ocean breezes most of the time to cool off ( and the Pacific ocean, too ! )
