Why I have few “school mom” friends…

Yesterday was field day which is always a blast.

School mom: “Your daughter is so cute, she looks like a dollbaby!”

Appropriate response: “Aw, thanks!” :-D :-D

My response: *chuckle chuckle* “Yea, well, you know, it’s funny you should say that, b/c there is actually a doll with a name similar to hers, and so I bought her that doll b/c of the name similarity, and everything, and now she plays with it in the tub, and the others, she named after her friends, and, and, and…”

School mom: “….huh, interesting!” *runs away*

Don’t mess with Texas…libraries.

So this school thing is actually work! Imagine that! After being thrown off almost a week due to an error made by the school, I am now playing catch up trying to get two weeks worth of work done before next Tuesday. I will probably be up till O Dark 30 Monday night getting it done, but s’ok. I work best under pressure. Some people pace themselves and do a bit at a time but why would I want to do that? That would make sense!

The kids’ school year is winding down and seems to be drama free, so I’m happy about that. It has gotten stupid Texas hot the past few days and so I spend my time indoors between sun-up and well, bedtime. If I must go out, I scurry from air conditioned car to air conditioned building and back. Like I’ve said before, I am a delicate flower, not made for heat. I had heat stroke last year, and even fainted from the heat as a child.

My kids are currently banned from taking out library books due to the whopping fine I recently had to pay for a lost book. It was either that or go to court as not paying fines is considered a misdemeanor here. I’m not kidding. I bet the library ban goes out the window once school lets out…or maybe remembering those fines will keep the ban in check.
Anyway, I have reading to do, so I better get to it!

The mind says yes, but the body screams no!

I decided last week to start riding my bike daily. I was going to ride it twice a day, two miles each time. And then, I actually started riding. I can not believe how out of shape I am! I mean, I’m pretty healthy, I eat well, and I was having trouble with little inclines!     Thank goodness Luis talked me out of the trail I originally wanted to do, which is much steeper. Anyway, I persevered, and managed to do one mile yesterday, and then another mile this morning. I think I set the bar too high originally. Maybe next week, I can move up to two miles a day. I remember when I was a kid and teen, I would ride my bike or rollerblade with my friends around Prospect Park once and twice. I checked and that distance is 3 miles. And here, I can barely do one lousy mile? Pathetic! Which is why I’m working on it.

Five recent things about me…

  1. My phone died after falling in the toilet, but before it died, there was a ringtone. I’m Too Sexy by Right Said Fred. Don’t act like you don’t remember it! I thought it would be funny, but I just ended up being embarrassed whenever my phone rang.
  2. I am enjoying school so far although I am going to have to write lot, and lots, and lots of papers. Joy.
  3. I am so excited about Sex and the City: the movie! Everyone I know who is a fan (including myself) has been busy trying to plan out their outfit for the movie and putting together a Girl’s Night Out!
  4. I need new sandals really badly. My favorite pair talks when I walk, lol.
  5. I’ve been having tooth pain again. I know I should go to the dentist. I’m not afraid, I’ve just been too lazy to schedule an appointment. I should get on that…

Get your story straight…

Overheard on the playground this morning:

Kindy girl 1: “…Jesus got shot, and went to heaven.”

Kindy girl 2: “Nuh uh, Jesus was nailed on the cross and then he died!”

Arguments about religion start pretty young, eh? By second grade, I bet they’re debating the merits of presidential candidates.  :-P

At the end of our zoo trip. I really enjoyed it. ZB’s class has a cool bunch of kids.

Girlie
Girlie loves to take photos, and I really like this one. I always tell her to “get closer”, and she did.

The perfect pout
Later that day…the perfect pout.

Wizzie
Isabelle is quite a cuddler and loves being on or near someone at all times.
