Chalk Ridge Falls

We went on a mini hike the other day at a park nearby. It was wonderful. Bebe was apprehensive at first, but was soon trying to skip rocks and catch tadpoles with his siblings. I “entertained” everyone with tales of growing up as a kid who spent about 75% of her time in the park, community garden, and botanic garden. This was my kids’ first time being out in nature this way and I was a little afraid for them. I don’t know why, b/c kids are naturals when it comes to hopping rocks, trying to avoid sliding in the mud, and playing in the woods. We talked about everything around us: the tadpoles in the water, the falls, the flowers, the dragonflies, everything. They asked if we could move there. :) We had such a great time, and can’t wait to go back. I had fun, nothing bit me, I didn’t have an allergy attack, and I felt like I was channeling SouleMama, which IMO, is always a good thing.

Falls
This waterfall wasn’t big and raging at all. More like adorable.

Bridge
Me and the kids. I even wore shorts! My husband said he had never seen me wear shorts before.

Falls 1
Girlie’s favorite thing to do was walk in the water.

Falls 2
DH fashioned walking sticks for all three kids.

Falls 3
The closer you go to the falls, the clearer the water became. The kids wanted to drink it. Yea, um, no.

Falls 4
Look, chalk ridges! Imagine that. ;-)

Falls 5
Mama’s little mountain goat. I like her “I am Girlie, hear me roar” pose.

purple flowers
Wildflowers are in my top 5 favorite things I like about Texas in the spring.

gorgeous!

Beautiful pics! Looks like a great place to spend the afternoon.

You wore shorts?! Unbelievable, hehe!

Love the pictures- I want to go to the falls now

Looks like fun! Love all the beautiful photos… Makes me miss the southern climate though.

I love it! I’m so jelly, cause we live in metropolis right now. My inner earth mama is calling me to the wild. Great experience for the kiddos.

OOOH I hope you frame those photos.. Those are amazing! The water looks refreshing and inviting! Love the girlie’s pose! Hear her roar… I love it!

Wow, it’s gorgeous there. Is it near your house? I love walking in and near rivers that are calm enough to play in. My kids would have been drenched about 5 minutes into the hike, LOL.

How nice to have access to such a beuatiful spot. I like Girlie’s superwoman pose too!

I love chalk ridge fall! Your pics made me want to go back! It’s relaxing there, when there aren’t 1000 people back there.

I love your shoes down in the post below!
