Hi, I still sew, and other things.
I’ve been doing tiny amounts of sewing here and there. Like this skirt I thrifted and turned into an apron. Refashiontastic!
Our school sock hop is coming up and so I made these for me and DD. In case you couldn’t tell, the one with the gigantic sequined “D” is mine. 
Superbuzzy had a sale not long ago and so I used that opportunity to snap up some adorable fabric for the boys. I have a specific project in mind and hope to get started on it next week!
My grandmother is in New York again and before she left St. Lucia, I asked her to get me some traditional madras. I might cut a panel of the printed one and frame it.
In other St. Lucia news, Sir John Compton died last week. A sad day for St. Lucia. I was a bit bummed about it myself as he was a friend of my family. Here I am with him in my grandmother’s living room (some of you have seen this photo already).
I don’t think I’ve ever bought any clothing for any of my kids at the thrift store. In fact, I rarely clothes shop for them. When you have shopaholic grandmas, it kind eliminates the need. Plus, the clothing in thrift stores here is meh, nothing fantastic or really old or cool, or whatever. Anyway, I just happened to walk by and see this adorable corduroy dress from H&M on the rack. I was thrilled as I’d been coveting one from here. Happiness cost $5 that day.

So I followed your link to the apron directions. Pretty cool! But how thrifty is it to throw away the zipper? Tsk tsk.
I love the picture with little Dee. You look SO much like you, if that makes any sort of sense.
And didn’t girlie already have a sock hop skirt? But you like making them…. lol.
Love the fabrics, can’t wait to see what you make! I’m planning on making aprons for my niece and nephew for Christmas, and for fun I’m going to make them little chef hats, too.

I bought one without a zipper. See the pink at the waist? Elastic waistband. The poodle skirt…cheap felt doesn’t last forever, ya know.

I love that apron! Cute skirts. Is that the poodle decal thingy from Hobby Lobby?
Those are great fabrics, too. Vibrant and colorful.
Sorry about the family friend. I remember that picture. You look a bit like Bebe in that one, to me.
I love corduroy skirts and dresses for little girls! I’ve got a great cord skirt for the fall. I just need shoes, I think.

Man, I miss H&M from Europe. I shopped the heck out of that place for everyone in the family and then some. So much awesome sewing going on. Love it all. Sorry to hear about the prime minister’s passing - but how neat that he was a friend of the family. And that picture is so sweet.

I have that exact same fabric only mine says “suriname” instead of st. lucia! Did you make something with it yet? I have about 2 meters of it and have no idea what to make with it! Pls share some ideas with me how I can show off my fabric :-)Oh and welcome to YMIB!
