I didn’t make it…
Since I started sewing, I find that one question tends to pop up in conversation that didn’t before. “Hey, that’s a cute *itemofchoice*! Did you make it?” 99% of the time someone asks, the answer is no. Take this skirt. It looks like something I would’ve made, what with the ricrac and weird pleats and all. But I actually bought it on clearance at Tarjay over the weekend. I took the kids with me on my Saturday morning Target run, and boy, it is so much fun going into a fitting room with them.
Anyway, new skirt, gonna wear it soon, yay. Excuse the flash in this pic, ugh. Couldn’t get it to photograph well otherwise since someone broke my tripod last year! Also, I’m not really wearing it, I’m holding it around my waist, hehe.

I am really into the whole cottage/vintage/semi flea market-y style right now and have been wanting some embroidered pillows with crochet edging for a while now. I also read this blog which features different embroidery stitches and how to do them and so I kinda filed that away as a “to do” project. Her latest tutorial was so cute, I just had to try it right away…

I used some of my floral print Japanese linen.
DD loved this pincushion and said she wanted it as a pillow for her dolls. I might make a couple today and surprise her after school with doll pillows and blankets. ![]()

Cute cute pillows!
Oh, I want that skirt!!!! I have some similar from Old Navy last year, actually. Similar in the sense that they have ribbon on them, heh.
LOL about how fun it was in the fitting room with the kids. I’m sure Bebe added that special touch that only a Bebe could, hehe.

Okay, I LOVE all of this. The colors in the skirt are so ridiculously ME. *sigh* And that pillow totally rocks.

Kids and fitting rooms do not a good combination make. Yeah, they suck.

Ooo, I really like that skirt. Plus thanks for the link to that other website I want to try to make some of those flowers as well!

The flower is awesome. Thanks for the link to the other blog- I love it! I’ve been into doing some simple embroidery lately but have a hard time finding good craft sites- all I can ever find is machine embroidery stuff. Have you seen the Sublime Stitching patterns for embroidery? They’re very simple and I’ve managed to make my son some super-cute t-shirts even with very basic skills.

Thanks for the mention and link. Your flower looks better than mine did! And I love how it looks on the pillow.

That is such a cute pincushion! I think it would be great as a throw pillow. Maybe you could do the embroidery with yarn so it would be proportionate, if you did a pillow.
