Sewing…

I updated the sewing tag on my photoblog, so now hopefully, everything I have sewn will show up. Also, I’m finally going to take the plunge and offer a few bags for sale. They’ll be up here or on Etsy this Friday, June 1st. *gulp* I am anxious about this endeavor, but I am really trying to quell my feelings of nervousness. With that said, I’m going to download some new podcasts and sew up one or two this afternoon. Have a great day.

I love my kids…

but I just found out summer vacation is two weeks longer this year. Pray for me. :-P BTW, ZB is reading this as I type. Now, he’s laughing. K, back to the fun. Nite!

I *love* the drive in!

You Belong in 1954
You’re fun loving, romantic, and more than a little innocent. See you at the drive in!

What Year Do You Belong In?

This reminds me that we haven’t been to the drive in since last summer! Must go soon.

8 random things about me…

  • I hated onions for a long time and have only recently decided that they are ok…in small doses…as long as I can’t see them. It’s partially due to these that I made a few weeks ago.
  • I have a pretty sensitive stomach and feel ill most of the time not long after eating, so I don’t really branch when it comes to food.
  • I absolutely can’t stand to be woken up from deep sleep and I get angry when it happens…then fall back asleep within a few minutes.
  • I love writing in notebooks and have one or two in each of my “spots” around the house that I write in all the time. I also keep one in my bag at all times.
  • For as long as I can remember, I’ve been the family photo op facilitator. I wish someone else would hold the camera more often.
  • I’m thinking of dyeing my hair but can’t decide on a color yet. I need a change…again, heh.
  • I have three holes in one ear and two in the other. I got the third hole on a dare. I also got the top of my ear pierced on a dare but couldn’t keep that piercing in b/c it hurt to sleep on.
  • I am the queen of turning pop songs into family friendly ditties including words like “yummy, baby and cutie”. :-P

I tag whoever wants to do this!

In true tifi fashion…

I waited till the last minute to make teacher gifts and now? I don’t feel like it. Lucky for me, I found this link via designmom a week or two ago. I’m going to use one of these ideas for inexpensive but (hopefully) memorable gifts. I’ll just make something small and pretty to go along with them. And I’ll feel better.

Update: Tada! Key fobs for the “Key To Success” sentiment

Bull It.

  • About those parties…one was in the birthday girl’s backyard which was full of young fruit trees! I ooohed and aaahed over the apple trees (two kinds!), plums and peaches. I didn’t take any pictures as I don’t know the family too well. I didn’t want to be that weird lady that takes pictures of everything even though I am that weird lady that takes pictures of everything.
  • The other party was held at a gymnastics center which all the kiddos absolutely loved. I had an I Love Lucy moment when I went into the giant foam block pit to rescue Girlie and her BFF and couldn’t get out myself. I was wearing a skirt too. Thank goodness no one was watching…I think.
  • ZB was one of many honored at an assembly for honor roll students. He was on the honor roll the entire school year. We’re proud and all that…but sorry kid, we’re still not putting the bumper sticker on the car! ;-)
  • School’s almost out and we have an activity to do almost every day. One might think this is for the children, but actually, it’s to preserve my sanity, heh.
  • My friend is throwing a backyard bash to begin summer in style and I can’t wait. She’s serving alcohol! :-D
  • We only have one more birthday party to attend, woot!
  • If I am able to manage it, I plan to take a sewing class and hope that will help me get over my patternophobia*.
  • I really miss ballet and if the price of gas weren’t so ridiculous, I’d drive the hour plus just to take a decent adult class at Ballet Austin.
  • I’m dealing with a lot emotionally as usual and pretty soon, I am going to hit the point where I can no longer be in denial, and have to go back to therapy. Underneath it all, there’s a deep sadness that I just can’t shake. Functional depression. If I thought writing about it in my private journal would help, I would, but it would just make things worse. I don’t even like talking about it (see? denial). Many of you know my blog is my “happy place” so to speak. I like being forced to think of some good things in my life to write about. It helps to keep me from wallowing. OK, I’ll shutup now. Bye.

Exhausted, but happy…

  • The parties were fun. Funny details another day…
  • The wrapping paper is from Dollar Tree! I bought three rolls, the third is a cute butterfly pint and I also saw some paisley and maybe some others there too. Did I not say that Dollar Tree is the best ever?
  • DH bought the Sunday paper, a rare occurrence, and I’m glad b/c I found out about an organic farm not too far away! I’m going to go there this week for local organic eggs, tomatoes, squash, honey…and on, and on!
  • I’m almost on top of my laundry, hooray!
  • Kali_mama: I like the book so far. I always feel like no matter how much I declutter, there is more to be done.
  • A cool new find: The Thrift Shopper…nationwide thrift store listings and reviews. Cool, eh? I’ve already reviewed and rated the thrift stores I visit on a regular basis and I encourage you to do the same!

Tis the season to go party…

Isn’t my new wrapping paper cute? My wrapping skills are awful though. I wish I could have perfect corners and whatnot, but the truth is, I’m just more slapdash, hehe. Only one more birthday party weekend to go after this one! Yay! B/C my wallet hurts! Also? How come kids don’t dress up for bday parties anymore? When I was growing up, I always wore party dresses to the birthday celebrations of family members and friends. My DD still gets a special birthday dress from Grandma every year. I love that.

Too funny not to post…

Operation Field Day 2007

Today was field day at the kids’ school. This photo perfectly illustrates what happens whenever Bebe is near members of Girlie’s class. The girls (mostly) go crazy and swarm him and want to touch him and hold him and love him and call him George.

Doesn’t ZB look like he’s having the time of his life? I’ve seen similar photos on myspace…except the blue stuff usually isn’t a sno cone, heh.
